Project Goals
Original project goals may have shifted since my departure.
Check back for an in-depth analysis of my work post-release.
Research
Process
I performed an in-depth analysis of the films and previous installments in the universe to ensure that the experiences we were designing for felt genuine to the 80's and met the goals of design and gameplay while at the same time keeping in mind proper usability design and our targeted Players.
Documented strategies for ensuring proper UX design moving forward and started gathering and documenting potential shapes for design and motion language from various canon references/sources.
Vis Dev
In addition to design improvements to the existing UI, I completed an art pass to bring it closer to an Alien's 1980s imagined future.
Documentation
Documented UX methodologies, terminology, and various design-related processes for our team.
Design
Prototyping:
Created several prototypes in Adobe XD (RIP) after rapidly iterating on various ways to present the UI for several systems and features within the game.
Tested with the team to ensure optimal usability and get buy-in on the designs from stakeholders.
UX Audit & Heuristic Evaluations:
Performed an audit of the game with detailed documentation identifying areas of friction/pain points, optimizing flow, ways to enhance engagement, and addressing usability issues.
Documented ways to improve existing UI with a heuristic eval.
